After four years of dedicated research, the ValuSect project has reached its conclusion, marking the completion of extensive investigations into various aspects of insect rearing, processing optimisation, and consumer acceptance. The success of the project is attributed to the expertise of an impressive consortium of 11 partners.

The closing event of the Interreg North West Europe (NWE) ValuSect project took place on September 21, 2023. It was a great success and a key moment for the insect-based food and feed industry.
Throughout the event, renowned experts delved deep into ValuSect's achievements and offered a forward-looking insight into the future of this growing industry.

If you’ve ever wondered how safe and nutritious it is to eat insects, here’s your answer! The European Commission, through the voice of European Commissioner for Health and Food Safety, Ms Stella Kyriakides, repeated that insects sold in the EU market are safe for European citizens, when answering MEPs’ questions on the safety of insect consumption. 

In a context where several institutions have pushed, in the past, for a European Protein strategy, ValuSect is pleased that the European Parliament decided to adopt a resolution calling for the establishment of a European Protein Strategy.
